Screen printing workshops are a fun, creative activity in a relaxed setting at Zara’s studio. You will leave the workshop with your own hand printed item having learnt a new skill, Zara is experienced in teaching all levels of ability

​

Introduction to screen printing

A three-hour workshop where you will learn how to create a hand cut paper stencil. You can either use the studios pre-printed designs or bring your own ideas and Zara will guide you through developing an image into a stencil. Zara will teach you how to screen print your stencil onto your choice of a tote bag or tea towel. This is a perfect workshop for those that are new to screen printing or have limited experience. 

 

Screen Printing 4 week course

This workshop is suitable for beginners and those with experience wishing to develop their screen printing skills. Zara will teach you how to coat a screen in preparation for exposing your hand drawn image ready for printing. You can choose to learn basic colour mixing skills and prepare your own colour for printing or select a pre-made print paste.

You will be shown how to use hand cut stencils for screen printing enabling you to create a multi coloured layered print. 

 

Lino Cutting Workshop

You will be shown how to use specialist cutting tools to carve your own Lino block. Zara will demonstrate the colour mixing and printing process and you will be able to print your block on to blank cards to take home.

Children’s Workshops

Children will have their first experience of screen printing using pre-made screens and water based printing ink. Each child will be given their textile item to decorate with screen printing techniques, painting and fabric pens. Parent or guardian to stay for the session and are encouraged to get involved.

 

Sew and Print your own make up pads

Zara will teach you how to screen print your stencil onto cotton fabric with a choice of colours. The printed fabric will be used for one side of the makeup pad. You will be shown the basics of using an overlocker. The printed fabric will be cut into a square or rectangle with towelling on the other side. You will then overlock the two layers together and be shown how to finish the ends.

Private Workshop Bookings

Zara can teach one to ones tailoring learning to your needs. Zara can also cater for private group bookings, children's birthday parties, baby shower, hen party or any other occasion.

Workshop location: Second Floor, Weston Artspace, 73 High street, Weston-super-mare, BS23 1HE 

​

Access:The studio is on the second floor it can only be accessed by two flights of stairs

If access is an issue Zara can work from the ground floor subject to availabilty or bring the workshop to you please use the contact page to enquire.

Suitable age: Zara schedules specific children’s workshops for age 5+ and adult workshop from age 16+  

​

Private Bookings: For groups, family, birthday parties (children or adults) and hen parties minimum of 4 participants, use the contact form on the website to enquire. 

​

Experience level: For any of the workshops no previous experience needed, Zara is experienced with teaching all levels and will support you through every stage of the process.

​

Workshop Cost: The cost of the workshop includes tuition, all materials including an item to take home plus fabric samples, a set of instructions for the process, refreshments.
