Service Description
This course will teach you how to hand draw a repeat pattern, expose a screen and print a 150cm length x 60cm width fabric length on 100% cotton. Week 1 Saturday 18th March 2023: Preparing your design ready to print! Bring your own imagery and learn how to translate your ideas to a design for screen printing. Maximum design size - 45cm x 60cm. You will be shown how to construct a block repeat, you will hand draw your repeat block on paper and photocopy it to create the repeat. You will then learn about the cut through process so that the design can be repeated. You'll be shown how to hand draw your design onto specialist film using specialist medium. You will also be shown how to screen print and have a go at your first screen print. You will take the design work home to finish tracing ready for next week. Week 2 Saturday 25th March 2023: Screen Exposure and screen printing Your completed design will be exposed to screen, there is a little time in the morning if you have not been able to complete the drawing in the week Colour mixing and testing your design on to fabric. Screen printing your fabric length and experimenting with smaller samples. You will be introduced to the repeat screen printing process. You will help others in the group to screen print their design working as a team. The cost of the workshop includes tuition, all materials including white, if you would like to print onto coloured fabric please provide your own. Refreshments of tea/coffee/water/squash and homemade cake are provided both days, please bring your own lunch. This is a good advanced course if you have attended a previous workshop or have screen printing experience.
